Agri-Food Pilot (AFP) or Agri-food Immigration Pilot Program

This is an economic pilot immigration program to fulfill the needs of the agri-food sector in Canada. This program is focusing on special areas of the agri-food sector such as mushrooms, greenhouse farming, meat processing and livestock industries that face a labour shortage.

How to apply?

After you got a job offer, download the application forms from the IRCC website and submit them to the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) – Agri-Food Pilot in Sydney, Nova Scotia. You can submit them both online and on paper.

LanguageMust have a minimum of CLB/NCLC level 4 in either English or French for listening, speaking reading and writing. 
ExperienceMust have worked for 1 full year (1560 hours) non-seasonal work during last 3 years inside Canada. Hours must be in one or more eligible occupations and industries. Experience can be obtained with different employers. self-employed, voluntary, or unpaid internships don’t count. Both Canadian and outside of Canada work experience counts.
Job OfferForeign nationals must obtain a job offer in specific industries in the eligible occupations, which is non-seasonal, full time and permanent with no end date in the contract.
EducationEducation must be either a Canadian high school or post-secondary education, or a foreign degree accredited in Canada in the last 5 years.
Settlement fundSufficient funds should be available (50 percent of the low-income cut-off totals for urban areas) including all family members if you are coming from outside of Canada. If you are lawfully working in Canada, you do not need the settlement fund.
OtherBoth work experience and job offer should be in the following combinations, other industries and occupations that are not mentioned below are not allowed. NAICS 1114 Greenhouse, nursery, and floriculture production (NOC 8252, NOC 8431, NOC 8611) and NAICS 1121 Cattle ranching and farming (NOC 8252, NOC 8431), and NAICS 1122 Hog and pig farming (NOC 8252, NOC 8431), and NAICS 1123 Poultry and egg production (NOC 8252, NOC 8431) and NAICS 1124 Sheep and goat farming (NOC 8252, NOC 8431), and NAICS 1129 Other animal production (NOC 8252, NOC 8431) and NAICS 3116 Meat product manufacturing (NOC 6331, NOC 8252, NOC 9462, NOC 9617). Combinations of these industries and NOCs are also acceptable.
